HAPPY NEW YEAR!! JSA held the coming of age ceremony.
Coming of Age Day (成人の日) is a Japanese holiday held annually on the second Monday of January. In Japan, Coming of Age Ceremony is held in order to congratulate and encourage all those who have reached the age of majority (20 years old) over the past year, and to help them realize that they have become adults.
From that day on they are invested with all the right as citizen, beginning with the right to vote. Drinking and smoking are also approved from this age. Municipal Governments host special coming-of-age ceremonies for 20-year-olds and the participants dress up in their finest clothes for this ceremony.
In this year, 9 students from University of Arkansas and Arkansas Tech University came this event, and we celebrated their departure to new life. In this time 4 students from Arkansas State University could not attend this ceremony, so we also hope 4 of their success in the future.
